About Mississippi Grogg

The Mississippi River is the largest river system in North America at over 2,000 miles long. It provides partial borders for 10 states including Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin and extends from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. Throughout history, the Mississippi River has been a crucial route of navigation through the center of North America. Beginning in the 19th century, dams were constructed on the river to facilitate a constant flow of barge traffic connecting the Mississippi Basin to the Gulf Coast. Aside from its rich history of Americana, the Mississippi today hosts everything from barges to jet skis to yachts and serves many purposes for the communities it touches.
