How Our Decaf Espresso Beans Are Decaffeinated

Not all decaf is created equal. At Verena Street®, we decaffeinate our beans using the Swiss Water® Process. A 100% chemical-free, natural method that gently removes caffeine while preserving the rich, full-bodied flavor of the coffee.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Soaking & Filtering
    Green (unroasted) coffee beans are soaked in pure water, allowing the caffeine and flavor compounds to dissolve.
  2. Caffeine Removal
    The water then passes through activated charcoal filters that remove only the caffeine molecules, leaving the flavor intact.
  3. Flavor Reintroduction
    The beans are reintroduced to this flavor-rich water so they reabsorb all the taste without the buzz.
