Say goodbye to harsh, acidic brews. Our coffee is balanced and low-acid for a silky, satisfying cup.

If you start with a bad bean, you'll never get a good cup. We source only high-quality, sustainably grown coffee because bean quality is the foundation of every roast we create.
Each batch is roasted to a specific level to highlight its unique character and derive the best possible flavor and aroma. Our lightest roasts are never too light, acidic nor sour tasting and our darkest roasts are never too burnt, smoky nor bitter tasting.
From the moment the beans leave the roaster, the clock is ticking. To lock in peak flavor and aroma, we package and distribute them immediately, ensuring your coffee arrives as fresh as the day it was roasted.
What Are the Best Coffee Beans for Chemex?
The best coffee beans for Chemex are coffees with enough character to shine in a clean, filtered brew.
Light and medium roasts are especially rewarding because the Chemex can highlight more of the coffee’s natural sweetness, fruit, cocoa, and origin character. Prefer something deeper? A well-developed dark roast can still work beautifully when it brings richness without turning smoky or bitter.
That fits the Verena Street roast philosophy well. Lighter coffees stay lively without becoming sharply sour, while darker profiles are developed for depth without losing balance.
Why Chemex Brings Out More in the Bean
Pour-over is how we start many mornings at Verena Street for a reason. It slows the brewing process down just enough to bring out more aroma, sweetness, and clarity than a typical automatic brewer.
A Chemex takes that idea even further.
Its clean brewing style lets subtle flavors come through, making it especially rewarding with coffees that have real origin character and thoughtful roast development.
Verena Street blends 100% Arabica coffees from respected growing regions including Brazil, Sumatra, Kenya, and beyond. Different origins bring different strengths to the cup, from chocolate depth and sweetness to brighter fruit and layered complexity.
In a Chemex, those details have room to show up.
How to Grind Coffee Beans for Chemex
Start with a medium-coarse grind and grind your beans right before brewing.
That gives the Chemex enough resistance for an even extraction while helping keep the cup clean and expressive.
If your coffee drains too quickly and tastes weak, go slightly finer.
If it runs slowly or tastes bitter, move a little coarser.
Small adjustments can make a noticeable difference.
A Better Chemex Brew
For a cup that shows off what the beans can really do, use filtered water around 200–205°F.
Rinse your filter before adding coffee to help remove any papery taste. Add your grounds, then pour just enough water to wet them and let the coffee bloom for about 30 seconds.
From there, continue pouring slowly and steadily.
The extra minute or two is worth it. You get a cleaner cup, more aroma, and a better chance to taste the flavors that were developed in the roast.
